Organiclea, the community garden in Waltham, London, have various volunteer opportunities, including the buddy scheme where volunteers with learning difficulties are guided.

Organiclea community garden (Waltham, London) are looking for volunteers for their third Buddy Scheme.

The buddy scheme is a three month training programme, teaching people how to support future volunteers at Hakwood Community Plant Nursery.

This year buddies will be offered the opportunity to gain an AQA accreditation in supporting volunteers as well as getting practical experience.

Organiclea is growing people as well as plants and are able to welcome a diversity of volunteers because of the support given by volunteer buddies. They support volunteers with learning and physical difficulties, language barriers and ill mental health and value their diverse community, recognising that volunteering can bring enormous benefits.

The buddy scheme will take place on Wednesdays 9.30am-5pm (lunch provided), starting on 20th May and ending 15th July 2015.

In order to achieve accreditation, buddies are expected to attend 10 out of the 12 weeks training.

To join or for more information contact Jo Clarke, [email protected] or 020 8524 4994.
