Rosemary Morrow is one of the world's most respected and widely read permaculturists. Her book The Earth User's Guide To Permaculture is an acknowledged classic and a standard text for students undertaking permaculture courses around the world. Rosemary, a scientist and agriculturalist, also teaches people to become permaculture design teachers all over the world.
Well, the book is a very welcome first for Permanent Publications. The latest print run is being handled both here in the UK (as is normal) by our UK printer Antony Rowe and for the first time ever we are also printing the majority of the print run via Antony Rowe's American arm.
For us, as an environmental publisher, these numbers mean that we do not have to freight the books across the Atlantic, a significant fact that helps us reduce our carbon footprint while spreading information to people.
The American quota of this order (distributed by our friends, Chelsea Green Publishers) is further proof that there are an increasing number of readers and students coming to permaculture. They are part of the growing consciousness that understand we need to make changes to our lives, to live lighter and be more aware of the connections between us all.
Rosemary came to visit us here at our refurbished offices at the Sustainability Centre the day after the Town with Nicholas Crane programme was shown on BBC2. It was also the day that the UK reprint of her book arrived here.
You will be happy to hear that we never asked Rosemary to unpack the books from the delivery lorry, but that we did get her to sign 20 copies of The Earth User's Guide To Permaculture. If you would like to order one of these signed copies please visit our store at Green Shopping and we will also send you or a friend a free introductory copy of a recent issue of Permaculture magazine. If the back issue is for your friend please just send us their name and postal address and we will do the rest.
