The Manda Wilderness Agricultural Project, Mozambique, is seeking a volunteer trainer in permaculture to assist the farm. Could you put your PDC to a practical use and make a very real difference? Read on for further details.

Part of the Manda Wilderness Agricultural Project , which is set in the north of Mozambique, is a permaculture demonstration farm which both supplies the lodge with fresh vegetables and trains men and women from the surrounding 15 villages in agricultural techniques. It is a joint Tourism and Development project comprised of Nkwichi Lodge, a beautiful lodge built on the shores of Lake Malawi and the development of a community owned conservation area.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a motivated permaculture person to use their expertise in agriculture and their creativity to make vast changes and improvements to the farm – to revamp the project and direct it as it moves forward. The person must be passionate about training local people in modern permaculture techniques. This person will aim to support a commercially sustainable agricultural demonstration farm that supplies fresh vegetables to Nkwichi Lodge and provides agricultural training to surrounding community members.

· Carry out training courses at the farm teaching new agricultural techniques.
· Support farm employees including schedules, work plans, and agricultural training
· Assist staff members in diversifying arts and crafts produced at the farm
· Support endeavours to fundraise for agricultural training through guests at Nkwichi lodge, donor organizations, newsletters, and website updates

Skills and experience needed

· Completed training from an accredited permaculture training course
· Experience running a small scale organic agricultural farm
· Language skills, particularly Chinyanja, Chichewa, or Portuguese are preferable
