One of Britain's flagship permaculture projects, Ourganics in West Dorset, just celebrated its 20th birthday.
On 3rd June 1999, Pat Bowcock founded Ourganics Evolving Systems, a 4 acre food-growing and woodland project near Bridport in West Dorset.
Since then Pat has been providing fine fruit, herbs, veggies and eggs to the local community as well as creating a place for people to come together, to find themselves, and to learn about a better way of living in this world.
Through her inspirational project, Pat has transformed the lives of so many people.
Pat holds permaculture courses onsite, with the next PDC (permaculture design course) taking place from 10-24th August 2019 with Aranya. Find more details here: http://learnpermaculture.com/courses/courses/ourganics-summer-pdc
Pat and her beautiful site are also featured in Permaculture Magazine's most-watched YouTube video over on PermacultureMedia. Pat was filmed as part of our Living with the Land series, and her video on off-grid living has been a huge hit. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c37WnsBGWC8&t=1s
If you want to learn more about the story behind Ourganics, and Pat's adventure, keep your eyes peeled for PM101 (out in October) where she tells her story of the ups and downs of creating a sustainable, land-based business.
May she and Ourganics continue to do so for many years to come.
