Eric Toensmeier gives his top tips for designing successful perennial polycultures - the building block of edible forest gardens.

From support plants that fix nitrogen and aid with pest control to cooperating plants.

Eric gives an example of a multi-layered polyculture, showing the sunny and shady areas, with a range of trees, shrubs and ground cover plants, including paw-paw, Asian pear, Siberian pea, gooseberries, josta berries and wild garlic.
