Reforesting Scotland share how to stratify seeds so that you can grow your own trees.

Stratification is the process of treating collected or stored seed prior to planting. It mimics what would happen to the seed in its natural setting before germination.

Planting trees is vital to the health of our planet, so getting the storage and then germination of tree seeds right is necessary.

Growing your own trees from collected seed is cheaper than buying in saplings, and also prevents the spread of disease that can be moved between bought in trees.
