OPPORTUNITIES

2019 Permaculture Magazine Prize and the Youth in Permaculture Prize
The 2019 Permaculture Magazine Prize launches on 1st February this year! Once again we will be offering a total of £25,000 to our winners.
Entries are invited from anywhere in the world and the main prize of £10,000 will be awarded to a project who demonstrate best practice in permaculture design and implementation to create regenerative ecosystems, the alleviation of poverty and social change. There will also be four runners-up receiving £2,500 each.
In addition, we are delighted to be offering the Youth in Permaculture Prize (YiPP), in partnership with the Abundant Earth Foundation, to recognise and honour the extraordinary efforts of young people around the world who use permaculture to help regenerate the planet. It is open to anyone under 25 years of age. The Youth in Permaculture Prize consists of a winning prize of £3,000 and two runners-up prizes of £1,000 each.
For details of how to enter, the terms & conditions, and deadline dates please view: www.permaculture.co.uk and abundantearthfoundation.org for their respective application forms. Both prizes will be judges by two international panels of experts.
In 2018 over 150 projects from all over the world entered the main prize. The standard of applications was very high and the judges had a difficult job of choosing the five main winners.
PM98 featured the extraordinary work of the £10,000 main prize winners the Ghana Permaculture Institute and also one of the runners-up, Bentley Urban Farm, a place of refuge and fresh food in one of the poorest areas of the UK. In PM98 Abundant Earth also revealed the three YiPP winners, including Millicent Anyango who uses permaculture to feed orphans, schoolchildren and the homeless in Kenya.
In PM99 we feature two more extraordinary runners-up, the Permaculture Provision Project, USA on pages 9-12 and the Albaydha Project and Albaydha Development Co., Saudi Arabia on pages 39-42.

Opportunity for Digital Marketers at Seed Festival http://www.seedfestival.co.uk/opportunity/ If you know anyone interested in a marketing and communications career, whether you would like to receive extensive training as the first step on that journey or if you’d like to gain experience in the field after study, Seed Festival is looking for an energetic, curious and preferably green/social causes leaning intern to help market its 2019 festival. Deadline 11th Feb 2019: https://www.facebook.com/SeedFestival/posts/2268994846478720 Both interns from last time went on to get work directly from their internship. Priscilla now works at Hawkwood College and Hannah with If Not Now Digital who trained our interns. "Working as Digital Marketing Manager for the Seed Festival 2017 was a rewarding and enlightening experience. My background in conservation and communicating science had brought the concept of social marketing to my attention and working as an intern for the festival was the perfect opportunity to gain experience in this industry. It also allowed me to channel my interest in social and environmental issues towards action. After running a successful online campaign together with my Seed Festival colleagues, I was then employed by social marketing firm, If Not Now Digital. My experience with Seed led to the most rewarding, exciting and enjoyably challenging job I have ever had, and I am eternally grateful to the Seed Festival for the opportunities that have led me to where I am today."  Hannah Conduit. Finally if you would like to get involved with the festival this year as a contributor or partner - please get in touch or use this link http://www.seedfestival.co.uk/contribute/

THE BIOTIME LOG by Maddy Harland (illustrated by Jane Bottomley). Biotime, or biological time, runs at a very different pace and rhythm to human time. Create a record of your own local natural world and its rhythms and mysteries! It is a ready-made book that will last for years in which to note your day-to-day observations. There are no days or years, just the dates of each month with two days allocated to each page. This allows you to record events by first adding the year at the beginning of each of your entries. Your observations will build a growing picture and deepen your connection with the natural world around you, your understanding of its cycles, and your appreciation of your local ecosystems. Pre-order for just £12.95 from: http://permanentpublications.co.uk/port/the-biotime-log-by-maddy-harland/
